Ung kultur møtes / Young culture meets

Young people from all over Norway gather at UKM to showcase their artistic talents through dance, music, film, and other mediums. Everyone is accepted and encouraged in this celebration of community and expression - this makes UKM my favorite festival so far.

I was Head of Communication in 2024 when these pictures were taken. I felt compelled to grab my camera to capture the atmosphere — because it was constantly lively and heartfelt.

Diversity parade

The national festival brings together young people from different backgrounds and talents, giving them a warm space to shine. This parade celebrated that diversity, as all the young participants came together to march on a sunny day. Glitter, sweat, smiles and flags fill the atmosphere.

club night

On the final evening of the three-day festival, the participants have had just enough time to truly connect. Before saying goodbye, it’s UKM tradition to end with a celebration night arranged by the festival. I was amazed by the self-expression, energy, and soul that filled the room.

CABARET

On this night, participants came together for a joyful mix of party and performance. The atmosphere was electric — the crowd was warm, energetic, and overflowing with happiness. Words can hardly describe it.
